Testimonials

A few customers - in their own words.

This necklace is more gorgeous in person than the beautiful photos show. The craftsmanship is impeccable. Quite frankly Randy should be charging more for this labor of love. I loooooove the necklace, a birthday present to me-self 🤗🤗🤗😍😍

When I saw these napkin holders (lanyards) offered for sale, I almost jumped for joy. I don't have the steadiest hands and I love soup. These holders are saving my clothes! Randy does beautiful work. His attention to detail and the quality of these holders is outstanding. I'll definitely order more items. June 2, 2019 Etsy Shop Kumihimo Rhythms

I was immediately drawn to the color and styling of this bracelet. After contacting the owner of this ETSY store, it is apparent that he has a true passion for the art of Kumahimo and loves his work. It is a beautifully made piece, very comfortable to wear and with a very attractive clasp. Bracelet arrived quickly in an organza bag which complemented it’s colors. Do not hesitate to purchase from this seller. Buy with confidence, you’ll be glad you did!

This is definitely wearable Art! Excelllent craftsmanship, nice overall size, reminiscent of Niihau shell in glass form, lovely. Fast Shipping. (Etsy review AkaLei Designs - March 2021).

Our wonderful neighbor Joy at Kai Makani Condos in Kihei and her gal pal Ann Marie ordered these two anklets in 2021. They began a new trend in beaded anklets. Thank you ladies!

Randy Spicocchi

The selections were mind blowing and had excellent quality of jewleries. Randy was very professionial and enthusiatically full of energy. I highly recommend him if anyone is interested in handmade jewelry on the island of Maui. Mahallo

Some of you wondered it we were wearing Ni'ihau shell lei or strands of pearls. I WAS wearing a very long lei made out of tiny shells --a lei I have worn for hula performances in the past (and yes, I danced a hula for Steven as part of our vow exchange). But they were NOT made out of Ni'ihau shells. THESE.(shorter) lei are made of glass beads that Randy has woven into "forever lei," using a Japanese technique, Kumihimo, which he has perfected. He is recognized locally for his creativity and has been leading popular workshops in this craft.

Take a look at the handiwork displayed in these pictures, especially the close-ups which reveal details and differences in weaving! And also check out his website www.akaleidesigns.com

Mahalo for these "forever-treasured" leis of love, Randy!

Fashion designers from Hawaii are known for excellence of their craft in clothing and jewelry. One such designer Manaola (www.manaolahawaii.com) has inspired me to blend an ancient pattern I learned that blends 12 cords into a spring like braid. When it comes off the Marudai (Japanese braiding stand) it is a spiral zigzag shape, but when combined with a second braid these two make a beautiful necklace that is similar to the one worn by the man and showcased in the Manaola 2020 website. Here is that ad that inspired me to create the fiber design for hats or as a necklace.
