Another extraordinary necklace design inspired by a renowned Kumihimo artist and instructor Adrienne Gaskell. This "Twisted Chain" Silk Necklace is woven with imported Japanese Silk Fibers. Invented by Adrienne Gaskell, her unique designs are famous across the globe as she invents new braids and teaches select students in the US every few years. This 70" long necklace allows you to configure the strand in any possible way - two strands are shown, but you could easily make it three strands. So this is a versatile necklace.
This necklace is made on the Marudai braiding stand (see photo below) using 8 cords in a unique braiding technique. Each of the moves includes 4 Cords moved separately, then all 8 tie in the Chain Links in a one-of-a-kind design. An extra strong Black toned acrylic magnet allows you to wear with no worry of it falling off. It measures 70“ yet is amazingly light weight.

Kumihimo is an ancient Japanese braid making technique that creates beautiful and strong interlaced cords. This art form goes back hundreds of years as braids were made for use in armor of Japanese samurai warriors. In modern times these braids are designed as belts (obijime) used on kimonos.
