Akalei is Hawaiian for "bead reflections" which describes our unique necklace lei handcrafted only on Maui. We reinterpret and illuminate traditional Hawaiian Lei using a vast assortment of glass and natural beads, Japanese silk and synthetic fibers, and a wide variety of braiding techniques and inspirations from across the globe.
Reminiscent of the beauty found on the Forbidden Island (Ni’iHau) these natural colors blend nicely in this necklace design using black and brown segments. The necklace pictured here measures 18 1/4”. Hundreds of Japanese seed beads were woven on a marudai stand and finished with a black matte strong acrylic magnetic end.
This Black/Brown Necklace can be made into various lengths (from 10” up to 25”) prices will vary with length or materials used.
