With this design I used 8 cords of S-lon cord and hand loaded Japanese Miyuki seed beads and then braided on a Japanese wooden stand (Marudai). The process requires many smaller movements to massage the braid while being constructed to give it that tight round braid. I do have 1 kit of this available with slight variations in the beads, priced at $65.00 (please email info@akaleidesigns.com).

Kumihimo is an ancient Japanese braid making technique that results in beautiful and strong interlaced cords. This art form goes back hundreds of years as braids were made for use in armor of Japanese samurai warriors. In modern times these braids are designed as obijime that are worn as a belt with a kimono.
